“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.” 1 John 5:4

“Do not love the world or the things in the world.If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” 1 John 2:15-17

 Whether we profess to be Christians or not, God tells us that a love for Him and a love for the world cannot co-exist. Period. As a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, a love for the things of this world can have no place in our hearts. 

The very thing that draws us ever closer to God must be the same thing that separates us further and further away from the world – our FAITH.
